Mes amies I apologise there has been a bit of an absence. The world stopped turning for me for a little while there. Luckily for you, the rest of the world didn't stop turning and churned out a bunch of new music for you.

Let's play catch ups shall we? In no particular order, audio first, video later.

Heart Beach. Don't know much about them bar they are a three piece feedback pop band. But I think you'll agree, it's hard not to get swept away in daydreams while listening to this single.

Ivy St & Peter Escott. I don't necessarily dig covers but this you have to listen to - Ivy St and Peter Escott perform each other's back catalogue.
Like Minded People. That Kieran Sullivan, he's always doing something new isn't he. When does he sleep? This is their latest single but I highly recommend you listen to 'Tollman's Hill' over on their Bandcamp as well.
Adam Cousens. Spaghetti western single from the touring troubadour. Don't tell him I prefer the acoustic live version of this.
The Beautiful Chains. Seth, front man of the band, releases a Jack Daniels fuelled kitchen recording.
M.O.1.O (Mach1nes of 1ndeterm1nate Or1g1n). I don't even know what's going on here but admit it, this film clip is the best thing ever. This single is from the album 1.0-SYMPTOMS due for release this month on Rough Sky Records.
Chase City. I've posted a track of theirs before and really, who can deny the summery indie pop vibe? This single is off their forthcoming EP.
The Middle Names. Seriously, you blink and those buggers get their house burnt down, fly to Brisbane to record and then whack out this single.
The Mornings. On the back of a huge amount of national touring over summer, here's the film clip for their latest single.
Alan Gogoll. He's gone by a few different names, including Small Giraffe, but here he is back as himself, playing his intricate style of acoustic guitar.
Andrew Marshall. Two years in the making, Andrew's new film clip focuses on cultural togetherness and sustainable living. Footage courtesy of Steppe By Steppe.

There is something magical and enchanting about Lulu's music.

Rehearsing in secret for months, the band suddenly surprised the interwebs with a co-ordinated campaign where, unless you're very familiar with the Hobart music scene, you won't have a clue who the girl underneath the mask is.

It takes something special to stand apart from other female Australian singer-songwriters, and Lulu's got it. Their first single 'The Music Box' really tickles my fancy. You can hear it over on their bandcamp.

Their launch gig is on 13 April at the Peacock Theatre. More details at www.lulupaige-turner.com.

I captured Lulu and Hubert performing a song so new it doesn't have a name yet, in the Edge Radio studio last week. Enjoy.

On January 15th 2013, anti-cultural trash three piece Wasted Idol scheduled a performance in the food court of a shopping centre in Hobart to release their album 'Three Coffin Fire'. The video below shows almost the entirety of the performance. Although it sparked a bit of controversy on the interwebs from those who didn't quite see the point of the exercise, a little birdy tells me it got the attention of more than just the shopping centre manager, with a person who shall remain nameless offering the boys a future gig and promising not to unplug them.

After a good year in hiatus, All Fires return with their new (kind of third) album 'Caves', recorded with Chris Townend.

Their launch location is as suitably dark and dreamy, brittle and brutal as the album - at MONA's Void Bar this Friday at 6pm.

I had a chat to Adam and Chris earlier this week about their recording process, development in sound and line-up dynamics.

Audio courtesy of Edge Radio.

Also take a look at the film clip for their first single Tokyo Honeymoon.

He's young, he's certainly talented, has a penchant for attempting ab workouts at 10:30pm and a wild sense of independence that would make my teen self cringe.

More importantly he has a brand spanking new EP recorded with Tony Sayer and he's doing a run of launch gigs around the state kicking off this Friday.

I captured Jed performing the single, 'This Old Town', from his EP in the Edge Radio studio last night. (Don't blame me if you wake up tomorrow morning with the words "I'm cold and I'm tired and I wanna go home" streaming through your mind).

You have to respect a band that knows exactly what their brand is and sticks to it.

If you've seen a bunch of guys looking distinctly Beatlesque and out of place around town recently, chances are it was The Breed filming their new clip for 'The City'.

The Breed play 60s style music in an 80s power pop/post punk style and suggest you "Think Ramones with musicianship, better manners than the Sex Pistols and less political than The Clash, yet sounding like none of these bands". I can hear you thinking about that from here.

They've just released their second album That Life and you can listen to 'The City' and watch 'The Radio Told Me', both from the album, below.

Sam and Seth, front men of The Mornings begin a three week tour of intimate shows along the East Coast this week, aptly titled the "Finding Friends" tour.

You could liken the two piece tour to a warm up run for when the full band makes it way across the water for a national tour that includes Festival of the Sun (NSW).

After a long winter break, hibernating and recording up the mountain they've released the first single from their forthcoming album, titled 'Smoke & Lasers', just in time for the tour.

Have a peep at the guys performing it in the beautiful surrounds of Fern Tree, as part of the Down to Earth video series.

On his website it says "Something like if Adorno and Orwell had a kid with ADHD that spent all day playing Xbox".

I prefer to describe Linc as a man with a large collection of harmonicas (why did I not know there were so many options before now), a natural storyteller and the best beard in Hobart.

He's been performing longer than I've been paying attention, which means he's got the craft down to a pretty fine art. Seeing him perform live with any one of his various incantations of a band is always a foot stomping, whiskey swilling affair, full of energy.

He launches his new album Resonation this Wednesday night at the Republic Bar. Get around it. And get one of the limited edition bone coloured vinyl copies of the album while you're at it.

I captured Linc performing 'Rosalie' live in the Edge Radio studio last week.

Four likeable lads with cheery dispositions, including a front man with ridiculous amounts of performance experience (we're talking musical theatre and singing since the age of five here), and twin guitarist and drummer - sounds like fun yes?

Left of Centaur haven't been in existence for much more than a year but they're already winning hearts with their pop-rock tunes that Alessandro belts out like nobody's business. Don't be fooled by their film clip for 'Everyday is Sunday'. They assure me they are not a novelty band.

Their debut EP is now available for free download from www.reverbnation.com/leftofcentaur.

I captured three of the guys performing 'Be a Man' in the Edge Radio studio recently.

Can Tasmanian indie outfit Enola Fall overcome the nigh-on-insurmountable tyranny of distance to record their latest EP?

Good question. Do you have $10,000?

Following in the kickstarting, crowdfunding, Pozible, I'm-throwing-my-money-at-worthwhile-projects trend, Enola Fall are trying to secure $10,000 to record their next EP with Lachlan Mitchell, the producer behind the Jezabel's successful releases.

The pledge rewards range from an unreleased "E-Sides" EP, to hand printed tees, to personalised songs, to private gigs and intimate dinners cooked by the band themselves, and their pitch video gave me a pretty good giggle when it was launched yesterday.

Have a listen to one of the tracks from the E-Sides EP, 'Hospital', watch the pitch video, then head to their Kickstart page and be a part of something good.

Besides, if you don't dig deep and help them reach the $10,000 target, my desire to have my own song written for me won't come true.

And quite frankly, there's no-one I'd rather write me a song than Enola Fall.
